Hear what Nat Geo and The White House are Saying About Bees

This article written by Jennifer S. Holland of National Geographic highlights some guidlines for choosing plant species_ABGexcellent ideas you can use as guidelines when adding to or creating new pollinator gardens in your home. This year think about diversifying your habitat for multiple pollinators uses, and perhaps introducing elements for nesting as well as feeding.

The article also highlights the Federal Government commitment to recognizing pollinator decline with the introduction of the Pollinator Research Action Plan.   Introduced in May of this year, the National Strategy strives to promote the health of honey bees and other pollinators.

The goals of this action plan focus on:

-Reducing honeybee colony loss during winter months

-Increasing eastern populations of Monarch butterflies, and

-Restoring or enhancing over 7 million acres of land for pollinators over the next 5 years through Federal actions and public/private partnerships.

At GAPP, we are proud GApp8to be an important part of this goal as a group of public and private collaborators who are focused on increasing pollinator habitat in urban metro Atlanta.
